Eligibility
Please visit each program page for specific eligibility requirements:
Pre-Enrolment Assessment
Before you get started, all students complete a quick Pre-Enrolment Assessment, including Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) Evaluation. This isn’t a test you can “pass” or “fail” — it simply helps us understand your skills and learning needs, so we can make sure the course is the right fit for you.
Employer Resource Assessment (for apprentices and trainees)
If you’re beginning as an apprentice or trainee, your employer will also complete an Employer Resource Assessment. This makes sure your workplace has the right tools, equipment, and support in place to give you the best possible training experience.

Co-contribution fees are required under Queensland Government programs to help cover part of the cost of training and reflect the value of gaining skills that can lead to better job opportunities and higher earnings. Co-contribution fees apply to the Career Start program, while VET in Schools programs are fully fee-free for eligible participants.
The co-contribution fee can be paid by your employer, a family member, a friend, or another organisation, but it cannot be paid or waived by the RTO or anyone connected to it.
Fee Structure
| Pathway | Non-Concessional Fee | Concessional Fee |
|---|---|---|
| Career Start Apprenticeship/Traineeship | $1.60 per nominal hour | $0.64 per nominal hour (60% reduction) |
| General Training | Set by Tactile Learning | Set by Tactile Learning, or free for lower-level qualifications (Cert I and Cert II) |
Note: Fees for School-Based Apprenticeships and VET in Schools programs are fully fee-free for eligible participants. You may also be eligible for fee-free training under initiatives such as Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s for certain qualifications. For more details on co-contribution fees for each qualification, please visit the Career Start Program Funding details.
What Co-Contribution Fees Cover
Co-contribution fees help cover the costs of tuition, learning materials, resources, any required licences, and transport for students in regional or rural areas. These fees ensure students have access to the tools, support, and travel assistance needed to complete their qualification successfully.
Concessions & Priority Population Group (PPG)
Participants who fall under concessional categories or the Priority Population Group (PPG) may be eligible for reduced co-contribution fees. This includes:
- Concessional Students: Eligible for a 40% reduction on Career Start fees.
- Priority Population Group (PPG) Participants: May receive additional fee reductions or exemptions as determined by the Queensland Government program requirements.
Eligibility for concessions is confirmed during the pre-enrolment process and documented before the commencement of training. For more information, please see the Career Start Program Funding details.
When and How We Collect Co-Contribution Fees
For Apprentices and Trainees, co-contribution fees are charged per unit at the commencement of each unit. For General Training Pathways, 30% of the fee is charged at the beginning of training and the remaining 70% at completion.
Payments are accepted via bank transfer, with the payment details provided at the start of training or in the tax invoice. The individual or organisation responsible for the payment—such as an employer, family member, friend, or other party—will be confirmed during enrolment and can be changed by notifying us via email at admin@tactilelearning.com.au or by calling us at 07 3348 3101.

Complaints and Grievances
Tactile Learning encourages and promotes the timely and effective resolution of complaints and grievances through clearly defined processes and in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations. Resolving complaints contributes to the ongoing improvement of our processes and services.
How to Raise a Complaint
Students are encouraged to first discuss their complaint with the staff or trainer involved. If this is not possible, or if the student feels uncomfortable raising the issue directly, the complaint should be put in writing and forwarded to the Training Manager at trainingmanager@tactilelearning.com.au.
Documentation and Record-Keeping
All discussions and resolutions with a student are documented on our Complaints & Appeals Interview Record Form, which is signed by both parties and filed in the student’s file.
Upon finalising a complaint, the Training Manager completes the Complaints Register to record actions taken, address root causes, and note any system improvements required to prevent future complaints. All improvements resulting from complaints or appeals are recorded in the Continuous Improvement Register.
Independent Complaint Handling Authorities
Either party may choose to engage a third-party mediator at any stage throughout the process. Tactile Learning encourages all complaints to be raised to improve practice and student experience.
